About Rylei

Rylei practices criminal defense as a trial attorney. Her commitment comes from both her training and her own lived experience, and it’s shaped her belief that defense work done right can change lives. If you get the chance to talk with Rylei about a case, you will see her passion for helping people and her willingness to fight against unjust law enforcement action.

She began her career as a Deputy Public Defender with the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office, representing people in a wide range of criminal cases at some of the hardest moments of their lives. That’s where she learned why the story matters: tell it well, and the government can’t define someone by a single moment.

Rylei approaches every case with empathy, careful listening, and respect for the real-world consequences of what happens in the courtroom. To her, good defense takes more than legal knowledge. It takes genuine care for the client, attention to the details of the system, and the willingness to keep fighting for the client’s best interests.

Trial and Courtroom Experience

In law school, Rylei was a member of the Public Defender Clinic and took advanced trial advocacy courses, building her courtroom skills under experienced public defenders, prosecutors and judges. She also worked with the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office and the City of Phoenix Public Defender’s Office before bringing that training to Colorado. Here she litigated several preliminary hearings and motion hearings.

Once moving to Colorado, she quickly continued honing her litigation skills by litigating several trials, motion hearings, and administrative license hearings for her clients.

Practice Focus

Rylei’s practice focuses around criminal defense as a trial attorney. She is in court across Colorado all the time and has an amazing grasp on how to navigate different judges and prosecutors across the state. Rylei also will handle driver’s license hearings parallel to a DUI criminal case to ensure a coordinated approach to defense.
